Everyday German for Advanced Students

This course is run in German and will focus on conversation and discussion of current affairs, travel, literature, culture and topics of general interest.

Additional Course Guideline: EU framework of Reference for Languages B1 (can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters, can deal with most situations likely to arise when travelling in an area where German is spoken, can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, can describe experiences, events, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans).

Ernst Hackenbroich
Ernst was born in Cologne, Germany, where he was educated and studied business administration with emphasis on international trade. He has worked in many countries in Europe and Asia. He was Managing Director of Degussa Australia, with activities in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, precious metals and gold mining. During his retirement, Ernst was a part-time student at the Institut d’Etudes Francaises, La Rochelle/France (International Business School) and is holder of ‘C 1’ and ‘C 2’ Certificates of the European Union for French. He taught French and German at several Melbourne U3As and assists young Australian students to improve their foreign language skills.
